Wayfinder Community Inc grew from a simple idea: young people often do not need another lecture, another program or another service telling them what to do.
Sometimes they need the right person, the right opportunity and the right pathway placed in front of them at the right time.
Founder Abe Khizar has worked across education, child safety, youth and community settings in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
His professional experience has exposed him to different communities, cultures, education systems and approaches to supporting young people and families.
Across these settings, one lesson kept appearing: when young people become disconnected from family, education, community and opportunity, problems can escalate quickly.
He has also seen the opposite.
When a young person meets the right teacher, mentor, employer, coach, community leader or service at the right moment, their direction can change significantly.
Those experiences shaped the vision for Wayfinder.
Wayfinder was created to work earlier.
Not after everything has gone wrong.
Not only when a young person reaches a crisis point.
But in the space where relationships, exposure, guidance and opportunity can still make a meaningful difference.
